Day 1  Lhasa
Today's Activities:

Welcome to Lhasa and choose our Lhasa travel package. Our local guide will meet you at Gonggar airport or train station and transfer to your hotel for check-in. On the way, you’ll be greeted by the Nyetang Giant Buddha at the bank of the Kyichu River, 30 feet high, which was carved in 11th centry AD. The rest of the day is yours to relax and acclimatize.

The Potala Palace: The Potala Palace is a landmark of Lhasa and Lama Buddism. It is a 13 storey and 1000 rooms' palace and once winter residence of the Dalai Lama. The construction of the present structure began during the reign of the fifth Dalai Lama in 1645 and took more than 50 years to complete.

Day 2  Lhasa
Today's Activities:

After breakfast, you will visit the splendid Potala Palace. Be ready to do some walking and steep stair climbing to the top levels of the palace, but it never fails to please your eyes. Potala Palace, the worldwide-known cardinal landmark of Tibet, is the highest palace of the world, over 3,700 meters above sea level. Atop the Palace, you will get a bird-view of the whole city.

Proceed to the Jokhang Temple in the afternoon. Situated in the old section of Lhasa, Jokhang Temple is the most sacred and important temple in Tibet, originally built in 647AD. The architectural style of the temple features a mixture of Indian vihara design, Chinese Tang Dynasty design, and Nepalese design. The circuit around it called Barkhor Street, a shopper's paradise with famous local handmade crafts and souvenirs.

Day 3  Lhasa
Today's Activities:

About 5 kms northwest of Lhasa is Drepung Monastery, on the slope of the Wuze Hill. It is known as the most important monastery of Gelugpa in Tibetan Buddhism, once world's largest monastery with about 10,000 monks. Next stop is Tibet Museum. It is the first large-sized comprehensive modern museum in the Tibet. Also it's a gem of Tibetan civilization & a treasure house of Tibetan cultural relics. Then you will visit Sera Monastery. It is one of the three most famous monasteries in Lhasa along with Drepung Monastery and Ganden Monastery. Sera Monastery may not be as grandiose as Drepung Monastery, but it’s more serene surrounded by many small temples.

Day 4  Lhasa,Shigatse
Today's Activities:

Today take a visit to Tsurphu Monastery, which serves as the traditional seat of the Karmapa. The monastery is about 14,000 feet (4,3000m) above sea level. Nestled in a valley around 70km outside of Lhasa, the picturesque Tsurphu Monastery boasts two large libraries full of sutras, tantras and collected works of some of the greatest Tibetan Lamas in history.

After the visiting of Tsurphu Monastery, prepare for the coming days’ trekking, such as hire yaks and yak worker.

The Jokhang Temple: The Jokhang Temple is the spiritual centre of Tibet - a destination for millions of Tibetan pilgrims. The oldest part of the temple dates back to the 7th century AD - being one of the two temples built by King Songsten Gampo to house the statues of the Buddha that his two foreign wives brought to Tibet from China and Nepal.

Day 5  Shigatse
Today's Activities:

Trekking Route: Tsurpu Monastery to Leten (4-5 hours, 11 kilometers)


Leten is a tiny village and valley of Tibet. It is located between Yangpachen and Tsurphu Monastery in the Lhasa. At an altitude of 5105m, it is one of the highest permanent settlements in the world.

Tashilhunpo Monastery: Tashilhunpo Monastery, the home of the Panchen Lama, is located on the hillside overlooking Shigatse northwest of the town. Tashilhunpo Monastery for the most part escaped the ravages of the Cultural Revolution and its chapels contain countless statues and mural decorated halls. It was established in 1447 by Genden Trup.

Day 6  Shigatse
Today's Activities:
Trekking Route: Leten to Bartso

Bartso is the village of five homes of drokpa (nomads). This settlement has a permanent sources of water because of which it is considered as a good place to camp for the Tsurphu to Yangpachen trekking. The slopes around the village are covered in juniper and valuable bushes are extracted from this forest and trucked to Lhasa to feed the people of the new provincial city.
