The mountains around Zhaoxing are covered with various species of bamboo and the people have a long history of making different things out of bamboo. There are special houses for making bamboo crafts, for instance, at Jilun village.

Bamboo caps, baskets, rice containers and bamboo mats are some of the crafts made around Zhaoxing. The hand basket and waste basket are two kinds of items used daily. Rice containers made from paper-thin bamboo strips are used by the Dong people for carrying rice to labor sites. The artisans weave patterns and paint Tung oil on it.
