News from a MICE industry meeting held in Hong Kong is that the Hong Kong Tourism Board plans to use an extra fund of HK$150 million from the government for further developments in the MICE sector.

This investment will be used for enhancing promotion of Hong Kong in the next five years, with aim of attracting more high quality and large-scale meetings and exhibitions to come to Hong Kong. HKTB said that they will provide one-stop professional support for MICE planners or organizations, and will launch promotions aimed at overseas markets to consolidate Hong Kong's position as one of the ideal MICE destinations.

In order to benefit from synergy, the Tourism Commission will found a joint working team including members from the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Invest Hong Kong, and Hong Kong economic and trade offices abroad to promote MICE and to attract more events to be held in Hong Kong.
