Because of the events that materialized on March 14, Drepung Monastery was closed for a period of time. Recently, this monastery in Lhasa City reopened for tourism. Tourists have started to visit this magnificent temple in the western suburbs of Lhasa.
Employees at Drepung Monastery told reporters that currently admission into the main halls of the temple is 50 yuan per ticket, but free of charge for religious audiences.
On the morning of August 30, Drepung Monastery will hold a tangka unfolding ceremony, and then religious audiences and tourists can watch the traditional Tibetan Yogurt Festival.
