The 13th Summer Festival was launched in Beijing's suburban Yanqing County Saturday. The 2-month long festival, themed by "Green Olympics and Cool Summer", will provide 34 kinds of activities to visitors from home and abroad. Among them, fashion sports and outdoor activities are two highlights.

Yanqing is most famous for the Badaling Great Wall. As the coming Beijing Olympics brings more foreign visitors to Beijing, Yangqing has been well prepared in hardware and software facilities to give them a favorable traveling experience. Sheng Guirong, Director of the Publicity Department of Yanqing County Government, says, "We have regulated the shops and stores on the Great Wall. Visitors will see a much clean and standardized commercial market there. The signs are at least in both Chinese and English. Also to improve our service, we have improved mobile transmission facilities on the Great Wall. That means you can call your friends and your family on the top of the Great Wall, which used to be impossible."

Yangqing has been dubbed as Beijing's "Back Garden" for its humid ecological environment. The Olympics has provided this county a perfect chance to develop its tourist industry. Yanqing is included as part of the Olympic torch relay route in Beijing. What's more, the road cycling games will showcase its picturesque scenery while the games are broadcast around the globe.

According to the statistics by the Beijing Municipal Tourist Bureau, the total number of visitors will reach 6.4 million, including millions of international travellers. The Games will also upgrade Beijing tourist industry from sightseeing to a comprehensive tourist industry structure including sightseeing, vacation, business and conference.
