Tourism in the quake-ravaged Dujiangyan city of southwestern China's Sichuan Province has resumed to the normal level since this week.
Chengdu Business Daily reported on Thursday that the daily number of tourists has reached ten thousand, comparable to the same time last year.
According to Zhang Zhongsheng, an official from the administration of Dujiangyan scenic spots, a special tourism project offered free to the public for three months has become popular since it was promoted on June 14. The number of tourists has exceeded 100 thousand since the quake by Wednesday.
The difference from before is that local tourists and those from areas nearby make up the majority of the tourists this year. The flow of tourists from other provinces has been increasing gradually.
The scenic spots which were damaged by the earthquake are under repair. Most of the scenic areas will be reopened by the end of the year, said Zhang.
Built over two thousand years ago, Dujiangyan is the world's oldest water conservation project that is still in operation.
