K7807 train Datong to Pingyao

Train K7807 is from Datong to Yuncheng, stops at Pingyao. It departs Datong at 07h45, arrive at Pingyao at 15h06.  Datong is the start station, it is convenient to book train ticket.
These trains have soft class with 4-berth ordinary soft class sleepers, 6-berth hard class sleepers and hard seats,  only public toilet (prepare toilet tissue by yourself), restaurant car available.

A hard seat ticket for 7 hour train ride is ok, also recommend you to buy a soft sleeper ticket.

Soft Sleeper
There are four bunks in a compartment which has a door for privacy. Each bunk will have a blanket and pillow. Toilets are at the end of the carriage and may be a western toilet however they may not always be clean as they are used by people from other carriages. No toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms. Overnight trains are available between big Chinese cities, the most popular train travelers taking is.

Overnight on the train will be less comfortable than accommodation in the hotel, you have to share a room with two other passengers, unless you ask us to buy four tickets for two persons in advance.  Anyway, you will save time on traveling betwwen Datong and Pingyao, one night cost of hotel accommodation.

Food cart goes between cabin to cablin every 30 minute, sells little fruit, snacks, and “lunch box” meals for dinner and breakfast you can eat in your cabin. The lunch box are Chinese style food, rice and pork meat. In the hard sleeper and hard seat cabin, many people take instant noodle soups for dinner.

Food service on the train
Car #9 is the dining car with a little bar area. Recommend you to have dinner there and the food is very good but quite expensive. At least the dining car looks clean.  However, it was crowded and you have to share your table with other people, also, they ran out of several dishes early. They serve dinner from boarding until 9:30pm when "midnight snack" time starts. The breakfast starts at 7am.

Drinking water on the train
There is plenty of hot water available but you need your own cups and napkins. Almost everyone brought a bowl of instant noodles with them.

Toilet on the train
2 Chinese style squat toilets can be found at both end of each carriage. It is very simple, with no other toilet facilities. You'd better to prepared with some toilet paper of your own.

Train stations in Datong
Datong station is noisy and busy, and some people find them confusing. So arrive in plenty of time for your train!

When you reach the station, you must first go through airport-style security controls into the departure area. For soft sleeper travel, you must then find the appropriate waiting lounge for your train. There are a number of different waiting lounges, and the electronic message boards show which is the right one for each specific train. Tickets are checked on entering the lounge, so you can be sure you are in the right place. Inside the lounge, the electronic message boards show the trains departing from that lounge, for the next 24 hours.

Trains are usually allocated between lounges so there is ½ hour or more between each departure from that lounge. Most trains are shown as 'on time', but the most immediate departures are shown as 'waiting'. Once a train is ready for boarding (normally about 30 minutes before departure) it is shown as 'check in', meaning you can proceed through ticket control to the platform. About 5 minutes before departure the barrier is closed and the train is shown as 'check out'.

Check-in Baggage
Baggage space is limited and must be storred in your compartment so it is wise to travel with small baggage rather than large suitcases.

Hand Baggage
Most train stations have a considerable number of stairs to climb to reach the platforms. Bags have to be carried up and down these stairs. Most stairs have a steep ramp so that wheeled bags can be dragged up as you walk up the stairs.
