T 166 Lhasa express to Xian and Shanghai
Most passengers prefer to take train from Beijing to Lhasa, it becomes almost impossible to get a ticket in Beijing! So we flew to Lhasa from Beijing, not so difficult to reserve a train ticket T 166 Lhasa/Golmud/Xian, then flew to Shanghai and ended our tour there.
In fact, the Lhasa/Beijing train journey takes 48 hours! That was why we took a shorter trip Lhasa/Xian. 35 hours on the train, no shower in 2 days, that was too much for me…

Recommended trains from Lhasa
1) Lhasa/Xian train
Take T166/T163, or T266/T263. We stayed totally 35 hours on the train, that was pretty much! Need a break at Xian, we checked in the hotel for a good shower…miss it so much. The next day, we went to see the Terra Cotta Armies.
2) Lhasa/Lanzhou train
Take K198 or T24/T21, Lanzhou is quite near to Xiahe, where you might see the famous Labrang Monastery.
