The maiden journey of D302 train Shanghai to Beijing

We took the D302 train’s maiden journey from Shanghai to Beijing on Sunday, Dec 21, 2008.

The express trains offering sleepers were faster than normal express trains between Shanghai and Beijing, it left Shanghai at 9h46pm, took 10 hours en route, 1 hour and 29 minutes shorter than the previous fastest non-stop express. Eventually we arrived Beijing at 7h46 am next morning.

I was quite surprised to find a baby-care table in the toilets on board.  The baby nurse table is seen inside the toilet.

In our compartments, I liked the reading lamps installed at my berth.  And there were service-call buttons available inside the toilets and each sleeper compartment!  The couchette was new and clean, We Hope the train would keep as clean as her maiden journey.

Our upper berth ticket costs 655 yuan and the lower sleeper 730 yuan for Shanghai to Beijing, it was a little bit expensive.

I was told that more tains were available.  The D306 and D302, will leave Shanghai for Beijing every day starting on Sunday at 9:41pm and 9:46pm. Their counterpart trains, the D301 and D305, head for Shanghai from Beijing at 9:39pm and 9:44pm daily.
