One day bus tour in Guiyang
Arrived Guiyang in the early morning, surfered from the overnight train, felt I had escaped from a refuge train…The Chinese train was still as dirty as the old days.
Leave my big baggages at the Railway Baggage Storage, 4 yuans for one day…Bought a map from the booth near the railway station. A map in Chinese…I had to check my dictionary, tried quite hard to explain to the shop owner (the guy who sold the map) where I wanted to go….with lots of body language…The hottest attractions in Guiyang…Jiaxiu Tower and Qianling Park.
Jiaxiu Tower
The No. 24 bus goes to Jiaxiu Tower, I got off at DaNanMen station. Surprised to find out the cute Jiaxiu Tower was hidden in the morden business buildings, the decorations of the stone carings were neat, the wood ceilings, gardens so beautiful. I sat down in a quite corner of CuiWeiYuan Garden near the tower, I was told this place used to be a part of the tea house, with the peaceful surroundings of bamboo and small ponds, this is life of ancient Chinese.
The nearby DaNanMen area was the oldest district of Guiyang, easily find lots of small restaurants. I liked the Dimsum shops and NantianMen ChangWangMian noodle soup, very tasty. A student sitting beside me said this shop owned some sort of reward for the best ten restaurant in Guiyang.
Qianling Park and Hongfu Temple
The No. 66 bus was heading to the Qianling Park, local people told me to get on board at Diamond Square. Glad to find out it was not so difficult to read the map and get to the station.
The park was crowded with local people, singing, dancing, giggling everywhere, mostly senior citizens…The cable car to the summit on Qianling Mountain was a little bit scaring. I was surprised to see a big temple on the mountain, the Hongfu temple was so big, many buddha statues, and many Chinese believers…
Took the No. 1 bus back to the railway station to get my big baggages.
Bus stations in Guiyang
My next destination was Kaili. The most difficut situation showed up this time. At the Guiyang bus staion (Guiyang KeYunZhan), I could not let the girl selling tickets understand where I was intending to go. I kept on saying loudly: “Kaili”…She wanted to say something..
With somebody’s help, I eventually knew that what she meant: I was at the wrong staion. The bus to Kaili would not depart here. One staff helped me to call a cab, told the driver where I needed to go…And Bingo! The cab went back to the railway station…Lots of bus waiting here…to Kaili.
It was quite interesting to travel in China like this. It made me feel so foreign, and thank God, Many Chinese were so friendly to me.
