Beautiful Guilin
I have just arrived by plane and boy, I can breath! Xi’an was great for the history of the Terracotta Warriors etc. but it was very hard to breath … the weather there plays a huge role in the air pollution, also I found a low count of trees, by observation, alot of dust … we need trees replanted here (Xi’an) to hold down loose earth …
In Guilin though, I got to experience fresh air, ’sweet little old ladies’ saying few words in english to sell their fruits, books, post cards, and one lady was selling aprons … it was hard to always say no, so i finally bought once a Guilin book with a 10 pack of post cards for only 40 Rmb…what a deal 40 devided by 7.5 … I paid ~ $5.33CAD … very cheap prices … your dollar goes very far in China …
I read an article on blog of Seven Star Park today…it is one of the main attractions in Guilin.
It was so amazing going down the Li River … the hills wre so majestic … this was the highlight of touring in Guilin, the cruise journey along the Li River … so gentle, and interesting … I took photos of women washing their clothes on the rocks along the Li River, women (with children on their backs) reaching out with long sticks with nets at the end to catch fish, NO, to catch $$ from tourists passing by on the many boats travelling the Li River … the landscape along the Li River will forever remain a highlight of Guilin; I can’t explain it, but the feeling is amazing. Next time I will stay for at least a week!!!
At night I took a cruize down the Mulong Lake, right in Guilin … one Pegoda stood out and was brightly lit; we passed through many many bridges that Guilin lights up specifically for the cruises at night .
what a sight and so many knids of bridges they have built (there is a history behind that … more research oneday) … wish I knew how to take clearer shots with my camera though it was at night and I was on a moving boat … I would place the camera on the boat edge, place it on timer and wait till the camera ’snapped’ a shot … it was the best way for me to get a steady shot hence clearer … my photography skills still need alot of improvement, but considering everything my night-time ‘novice’ photos of the bridges in Guilin turned out awesome!! I BELIEVE EACH BRIDGE REPRESENTS A FAMOUS BRIDGE THAT WAS BUILT IN THIS WORLD OF OURS, DON’T QUOTE ME THOUGH, STILL HAVE TO RESEARCH THAT THOUGHT THAT THE TOUR GUIDE GAVE ME, I THINK
Oh, I forgot, while on the cruize down the Li River I met a man from Montreal, Canada. to have met a Canadian after being in China for over 2 weeks, felt very good also … the people of China are inviting but there’s nothing to compare to meeting a fellow Canadian … of course I’m biased being a Canadian myself.
In the evening we went to the theatre, relaxed and took in more history of China … the people of China are a ‘very proud people’.
