Beijing Olympics – Accommodation – Rent an apartment

Most of the hotel beds for the Olympics are locked by Olympic Committees, sponsors, etc. and will be released at some point.  Accoring to the experience from previous events,  these beds will be released when the openning ceremony is closer and closer, but the problem is: No one knows when they will release.

Renting an apartment will be your best bet. Rates are higher, but definitely cheaper than hotels. I searched for these hotels near the National Olympic Stadium last year (totally forgot the name of it cus it was a Chinese 5 star hotel) , they were asking for US$1300/night ++.

I will be back to Beijing next month and will be renting from Angela again, the landlady. Not sure whether she’ll have other apartments available during the Beijing Olympics. I know she manages/owns quite a bit of properties. Either way, you can give it a shot.

She listed several properties with VRBO (vacation rentals by owners), but forgot the listing numbers. Shouldn’t be hard to look her up though.
