Royal Mediterranean Hotel Guangzhou
This is definitely a very nice hotel. The lobby is elegant with Egyptian style. We took the standard room, which was pretty good in all respects. Big, bright and comfortable. The bathroom was large, modern, classy and of course very clean. There is even a plasma screen TV you could watch in the bath. The breakfast was good with a nice selection of foods catering to all tastes.
Though the staff was friendly, the service was inadequate. I requested the lobby assistant manager to re-confirm my ticket to Dubai from Hong Kong by Emirates Airlines, but they could not find the Emirates Airlines office in Guangzhou. I suggested them to check Emirates airlines office in Hong kong. I was told to wait. I waited for 2 days and still no reply. Then I called a local friend and got the number in Hong Kong after 5 minutes. I gave it to the assistant manager and finally got the confirmation.
The hotel location for a business traveler might be good but a little bit noisy. Many computer shops surround the hotel. The McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken are right there too.
Royal Mediterranean Hotel is my favorite hotel in Guangzhou.
Very nice architectural hotel with attention to details. Good size rooms, very clean, good staff, Royal Mediterranean Hotel is quite near to Gangding business & shopping area, lots activities available at night.
Only complain: we have reserved a twin room & we were given a double room, but promised to relocate next day. Finally they found a free twin room, later on, the same day!
Food is of great variety but not so much of western taste. Overall a 5 star hotel by international standards.
